What Is a VRV / VRF System?

VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume, Daikin's term) and VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow, the generic term) systems connect a single high-capacity outdoor unit to multiple indoor units — cassettes, ducted units or wall mounted — through a shared refrigerant circuit. The system modulates refrigerant flow to each zone, cooling only where needed.

That shared circuit is exactly why maintenance matters: dirt on the outdoor coil, a slow refrigerant leak or a failing PCB doesn't degrade one room — it degrades the whole floor.

VRF diagnostics are system-level: error codes, refrigerant balancing and zone control logic differ by brand and generation.
